Three flutes is the sweet spot for aluminium on a CNC router or mill. Compared with a 2 flute you get a stiffer tool and a better side wall finish; compared with a 4 flute you keep enough chip room that soft, stringy aluminium swarf does not pack the flutes and weld to the cutter. The polished, uncoated edge stays sharp and runs cool.
Use it for profiling, pocketing and side milling in aluminium plate and extrusion, brass and copper. For the best possible wall finish step up to the 3 flute DLC; for fast roughing use the 3 flute rougher first.
Three flute square end mills for cutting soft metals such as aluminium are a high performance mill. Achieve that cleaner side finish with a three flute mill. Soft / non ferrous metals include aluminium, brass and copper.

3F carbide end mill
I bought this for use with aluminium but have used it for steel as well. It cuts effortlessly, even in steel, and is a great leap forward from the Chinese endmills I had been using.

3 Flute UP CUT Carbide End Mill (for Aluminium
I used these to cut aluminium and acrylic on a cheap Chinese Did a good job on both aluminium and acrylic. Having the shank the same size as the cutters makes the tool useful as it allows a good cut depth.
