End Mills for Aluminium
Every cutter here is ground for non-ferrous metals: aluminium plate and extrusion, brass, copper and bronze. The common thread is chip evacuation, so you will find one, two and three flute geometries, polished flutes and DLC coatings rather than the four flute, TiSiN tools used for steel.
- On a CNC router, start with the 1 flute DLC for profiling and the 2 flute DLC for pockets.
- On a mill or rigid router, the 3 flute DLC and the WINSTAR range give the best side wall finish; use a 3 flute rougher first for heavy stock.
- 3D, chamfers and threads: DLC ball nose, uncoated chamfer mill, thread mills.
