Use the keyhole slot cutter to rout a vertical or horizontal slot for hanging pictures and other wall hangings. The finished slot has a wide end that accepts a screw, while the narrower section captures the screw head. Simply plunge the bit through to create the larger diameter, then rout laterally to create the narrower slot. Makes a 9.5-10mm entry hole and blind slot for positive hanging on a headed fastener.
Adam's Tips
Rout two or more horizontal slots for larger hangings.
NOTE ON TRANSITIONING TO ARDEN
You might have noticed that each router bit profile shows both Arden and Hero. Truth is that they are the same company and the only difference is the colour and name. Until all Hero stock has been exhausted, we will be supplying one or the other or both.
Best for
- Keyhole slots for hanging pictures, signs, clocks and shelves on a headed screw
- CNC, hand router or router table
Not for
- Material thinner than the slot depth plus a safe floor
Adam's Tip
Plunge for the 9.5–10mm entry hole, then traverse to cut the narrow slot. For larger pieces, rout two or more slots level with each other.
