Suitable Material:
Wood / Plastics / Composites / Foam
Cutter Profile:
Insert V bit
Suitable Use:
CNC

An insert V bit uses a replaceable carbide insert instead of a solid ground tip. When the edge dulls you swap the insert in a minute and keep the same body, which works out much cheaper over time for sign makers and anyone V-carving daily. The body also carries a larger diameter than a solid V bit, so you can cut wide V grooves and large lettering in one pass.

Indexable V bit for engraving, V Grooving and 3D Carving for timbers and plastics.

Adam's Tip: check the deg angle when adjusting and unsure insert is tight each use.

Suitable for

  • Wood (MDF, hardwood)
  • Wood (Ply & softwoods)
  • Plastics
  • Composites
  • Foam
  • Laminate / Melamine
  • Sign Board

Angles of 45°, 60°, 90° and 120° on 6.35mm and 12.7mm shanks, with replacement inserts listed separately. For fine engraving under about 1mm wide, a solid carbide 2 flute V bit gives a sharper point.

Every size lists a starting feed rate on the product page where we have tested it. For the method behind the numbers read the Feeds & Speeds Guide, or call Adam on 0448 431 833 if you are unsure which size suits your machine.

Stocked in our Laverton North (Melbourne) warehouse and shipped Australia-wide. Standard shipping is free on orders over $200.

    v bit with inserts

Be careful with the tip. It is obviously very sharp but more importantly, brittle! I've had some trouble with vibration? haven't determined where its coming from but haven't experienced it before with any other type of bit.
